Sancon Commissioning has an opportunity for a motivated, self-directed individual to join its business development team in its Calgary office.  Sancon is an ISO-registered commissioning and start-up service provider serving the major capital project market in Western Canada from its Calgary office.  Support to related companies in web-based technical training and human resources will also be required.  The successful candidate will support service to major clients as well as work with senior management to research new business opportunities, support the develop of strategic plans and account management strategies and to manage client expectations in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth of our firm by promoting our industry-leading systems to regional firms seeking to control and manage projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Support development of account management strategies, including detailed work plans and scope for a variety of clients

Maintaining and enhancing the Sancon Customer Relationship Management system

Identifying, monitoring and tracking regional capital projects, including identifying key personnel, decision-makers, contracting strategies while building project profiles

Market research and analysis, advising the Business Development Manager on trends, industry developments and management changes in target firms

Presentations to industry groups and targets as required

Providing competitive intelligence on target firms, competitors and industry trends to senior management

Deliver on defined business development targets for prospecting, presentations, client meetings and reporting to senior management

Undertake and support supplier registration processes with target firms and 3rd party registration systems

Establish and maintain solid and mutually beneficial relationships, resulting in high levels of client satisfaction, client retention and future business development

Interface with all levels of management and operations throughout the business development process

Review and track request for proposals and ensure activities are carried out in accordance with ISO-based procedures and work instructions

Will report to the Business Development Manager

Job Requirements                        

Personal Attributes / Skills

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure

Ability to be pro-active and anticipate the needs of the Business Development team, clients and target firms

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and timelines effectively

Detail oriented with sales and negotiating skills

Superior written and verbal communication skills in the English Language

Comfortable in networking and developing new relationships

Confident in public speaking to large audience

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Required Experience and Training

University degree in a related field (Business or Technical – Engineering / Project Management). Candidates may be considered without degrees only if they have demonstratable equivalent experience in sectors

Understanding of the Oil & Gas and heavy industrial sectors in Western Canada and/or abroad.

Comfortable with major software programs, including CRM packages (such as Salesfore), Excel, Word, presentation software packages

Minimum 5 years direct experience in sectors covered

Demonstrated experience in networking, building referrals and lead generation networks

Ability to travel extensively throughout the Western Canada region (subject to drivers record check, drug testing and site access requirements).  No restriction to travel across Canada, USA and other markets on an as need basis.
